Going to the gym is a great way to lose weight and get fit. However, it can come with its own set of challenges. These challenges come in the form of people either not knowing or not caring about proper gym etiquette. If you what to be respectful to others, here are few things you need to know.
Minimize your cell phone usage at the gym. It is very rude and distracting to hold on a cell phone conversation while on a weight machine. If you have to be on the phone, keep it short and to the point and then get off.
It’s rude not to put the weights back where they belong. There is nothing more frustrating and time-consuming than to have to hunt down the weights you want to use.
Wipe Down the Equipment
Wipe down the equipment when you are done. It is disgusting to walk up to use a piece of exercise equipment and have it dripping with someone else’s sweat.
Wrap a towel around you in the locker room. No one wants to see you naked.
Wash Your Hands Before and After Working Out
Washing your hands before and after exercising can help stop the spread of colds and other germs.
Don’t Be a Machine Hog
It is frustrating having to wait for a machine. It is even more frustrating when someone decides to spend 20 minutes on a machine. It is a good idea to offer to share between your sets.
Put Your Stuff in a Locker
Don’t leave your gym bag or water bottle where it will get in the way of others.
Wear Clean Clothing
One use is the max for wearing your gym clothes. Otherwise you stink people out.
Nobody Wants to Hear Your Conversations
When talking to people at the gym. Keep your vice down.
Don’t Spit in the Water Fountain
This grosses out the person behind you.
Your number one goal is to get is to shape. Your number two goal should be to do it without irritating anyone.
