What Are You Risking to Lose Weight?

Risk is associated with fear. Fear is the emotional reaction to risk. Risk is associated with the possibility of failure and forms in our imagination.

The question you need to ask is, “What are you risking by not losing weight?” On one side, you may be risking failure. However, on the other side, you are risking poor health. One side you are risking embarrassment or a hurt pride. On the other side, you are risking pain and a shortened life.

The answer is to pick your risk and move on that decision.

Hopefully, the results of that choice are to get thinner and healthier.

The Quest for Simple and Easy

I am always asked how I lost 50 pounds in four months and have kept it off. Why is that? It’s simple; people are on a quest for simple and easy weight loss. They want to hear that I ate everything and anything I wanted and lost weight. They want to hear I hate fast food three times a day and the weight came off. How do I know this? It is by their reaction. They don’t like what they hear because it doesn’t fit into their ideal narrative on how they would like to lose weight.

Losing weight requires work. It requires changes. It requires developing different eating habits. If you are waiting for your ideal narrative, it won’t happen. You need to create a new narrative. A narrative that is realistic. However, it needs to be one that you can live with. Start out with small changes. Pick one meal and make it a low calorie, healthier meal. After the change becomes comfortable, move on to another meal.

Weight loss is simple. However, easy is in your attitude.

One Stupid Reason Why You Aren’t Losing Weight

There are many reasons why people don’t lose weight. However, if we really think about it, the reasons can come down to one, selfishness. It is all about “Me”. You hear it all time.

I don’t like to exercise.
I don’t have time.
I don’t want to have to give up my favorite foods.
I don’t want to sacrifice.

I…, I…., I.., me…,me….,me.., selfish, selfish, selfish.

If you really think about it, not losing weight is selfish. The good thing is that you can make losing weight a selfish act also.

I will look better.
I will be more mobile.
I will be around for my kids.

Get selfish for healthy reasons and let’s lose some weight.

If It Was Easy, Everyone Would Do It

Losing weight is simple but not easy. If it were easy, everyone would be thin.
What makes it hard are the changes that need to be made in order to lose weight, and change is hard for most people. What makes is hard is that you are watching what you eat while everyone around you pig out. What makes it hard is exercising regularly even when you are tired.

What makes it worth it are the results you see when you look in the mirror. What makes it worth it is hearing the health issues that other people have, and you know it is because of their weight.

Losing weight may not seem easy. However; it is definitely easier than dealing with health issues. Pick your easy.

When I was in the weight loss process, many years ago, I thought about quitting, once. It was once and only for a few minutes, then I got over it and never thought about quitting again.

The reason was doubt. I had doubts that I could do it. However, I had a big enough dream to push me through it. My motivation was so strong that quitting was not an option. Motivation was my key to losing weight and it can be yours.

  • Would you like to spend more time in doctors’ offices?

One of the best ways to lose weight is to make it into a game. Have fun with it.

One of the things that you can do is make exercise into a game in which you are always trying to improve. Find a sport you like to play is another idea. Try different physical activities to see if there are others that you like better.

Make different foods to see if you can find healthier foods you love. Make finding new foods into a game and have fun with it.

Turn weight loss into a game and win.

Remember, the prize for winning the weight loss game is a longer, healthier, and more mobile life.

Do you feel it is more important to make promises or keep them? What about promises to yourself? Why are they any different? Making promises to yourself and breaking them, says something about you. If you are starting to feel bad, don’t. You can change. You can start to keep the promises you make to yourself. You can lose the weight you keep telling yourself you are going to lose. You can do it! You just need to want it bad enough to overcome what is holding you back.

Remember, you can keep the promises you make to yourself, as long as you truly want it bad enough.
