Excusers vs. Doers

When it comes to losing weight, there are just two kinds of people, excusers and doers.

Excusers will say things like:

  • I don’t have time to exercise.
  • I am too busy.
  • I will do it after…
  • I can’t do that.
  • It is a bad thyroid (when their doctor has not verified it)
  • It is hereditary.
  • Doers say things like:

  • I will lose weight.
  • I will get it done.
  • I will make the time to exercise.
  • Losing weight is my number-one priority.
  • Being an excuser or a doer is a choice. Therefore, my question to you is this, “Which one are you, an excuser or a doer?”

    The concept of losing weight is simple. It is basically taking in fewer calories than you burn. However, it is not always simple or easy implementing the basics. However, you don’t have to make it complicated. Sometimes large changes need to be made. Other times it is just a few small changes that need to be made. Either way, changes need to be made. Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Change is required to lose weight and keep it off. If you want to lose weight get back to the basics, make the changes necessary to make it happen and get the results you deserve.

    What are you waiting for? | Don’t Procrastinate

    If you are overweight and need to lose weight, what are you waiting for? Are you waiting for a heart attack or stroke before you make that commitment to lose weight? Are you waiting for a family member or close friend to die of weight-related issues before it hits home? Are you waiting for your joints to start needing replacement before you start the process? What will get you to start? It is harder to lose weight if you have to. It is easier to lose weight when you want to. Let’s make the decision to lose weight on our terms and not when our health forces us to. When our health forces us to lose weight, it may be too late to reverse the damages.

    We only get one body in this life and replacement parts are painful to install. Let’s decide to lose weight and let’s look forward to a healthier future.

    How Low Can You Go? | How Much Weight Should I Lose?

    One of the questions I had while I was losing weight was, how low can I go? To answer the question I consulted two sources. The first was the BMI Table that gave me the weight range I should strive for. Then I asked my doctor who told me what weight I should not fall under. It matched the BMI Table. It was a good check.

    How low can you go? You should find out and make it your ultimate goal. Even if you only come close, you will be able to call it a victory.

    Can Lose Weight vs. Can’t Lose Weight

    There is a huge difference between “can lose weight” and “can’t lose weight.” The big difference is the word “can’t”.  When we add the ‘t to the word can, we are adding an excuse not to do it.  We have changed weight loss from something that we are willing to do into something that we are not willing to commit to doing.

    The difficult part for many people is seeing the “Can’t” as a decision and an excuse.  It is seeing that weight loss it is doable so that they start the process. Without removing the ‘t, nothing will happen. Where there is no hope, there is no action, however, removing the ‘t gives hope.  Weight loss comes to people who remove the ‘t from the word can’t, start the process, and then keep moving forward.

    People tell me everyday that they are trying to lose weight. The problem with saying that you are trying is that you are expecting to fail. “I am going to lose weight,” is a better statement. “I am going to lose weight,” does not give room to failure. “I am going to lose weight,” displays confidence. “I am going to lose weight,” is not a part-time endeavor. “I am going to lose weight,” gives it priority. “I am going to lose weight,” means that you are all in. Don’t try to lose weight, be all in and do it.

    Losing weight is a challenge for most people. However, one of the biggest challenges is starting.

    There is an old Chinese proverb that says, “A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.” This also applies to losing weight. The only way we can lose weight is to start the process. If you want to lose weight, what will be your first step?

    What is the one thing today you can do to start? Make it a small thing. Make it a large thing. It does not matter. What matters is that you start. Let’s get started and let’s get it done.

    3 Keys to Weight Loss

    There are three main keys to losing weight.

    1) Motivation
    Motivation is the number-one key to losing weight. It drives all the other keys. Without a strong motivation to lose weight, it won’t happen. Motivation drives your actions. It sets your priorities. It allows you to stay focused. Therefore, it is important to have a strong motivation to do it. Your motivation will determine your success or failure.

    2) Setting a Goal
    Setting a goal is a mandatory part of losing weight. Why you may be asking? If you don’t know what weight, you want to be, how will you ever get there? How will you know that you succeeded? When I first started to lose weight, I set a goal of 30 lbs. Once I lost the weight, I set another goal of an additional 20 lbs. A goal helps you stay focused. It gives you an end. It gives you confidence. It gives you excitement. Setting a goal is powerful. Set one and see the results.

    3) Take action
    Motivation and goal setting are great. However, without taking action, weight loss will not happen. It is number three because it is the result of having strong motivation and setting a goal.

    There are more than 3 keys to losing weight. However, these are the top three on my list.

    Review: Exercise Resistance Tubes with Handles

    I have had my exercise tubes for a few years now, and I can truly say that they are worth the small amount of money I paid for them.

  • They are great for a quick 10 minute toning workout.
  • They can be taken to work for a quick workout at your desk during the day.
  • They can easily be packed into a suitcase and taken on vacation.
  • They can be used in front of the TV.
  • On days I don’t have time to exercise, I make sure I spend 10 intense minutes with my exercise tubes. If you don’t have resistant exercise tubes with handles, you just my just want to consider getting one.
