  • First, it forces you to come up with reasons you should do it.
  • It eliminates excuses you give to yourself for not doing it.
  • It focuses on the positives not on the negatives.
  • It reinforces your desire to do it.
  • Lastly, it helps you keep your head in the game.

Having kids increases the odds of junk food being brought into the house and eventually eaten by you.

Putting their kids first, parents tend to:

  •  Skip breakfast
  •  Eat high calorie snacks
  • Overlook exercise

What can you do? The first thing is to remember that high-calorie snacks will end up turning into fat.  Secondly, it is a good idea to plan your meals and snacks ahead of time. Additionally, plan your comfort food cheating.

Remember, that although you are busy, it is important to eat right,  get regular exercise, and put your health first.

Are Your Prescriptions Adding to Your Weight?

Antidepressants can be weight loss killers.  They can affect your weight by regulating serotonin, which can affect both your mood and your appetite.

What can you do? Talk to your doctor to see if it makes sense to reduce your dosage. Consider having it reduced or switched to a different prescription.

Additionally, understand the increases in appetite linked to the medications you are taking and switch to lower-calorie foods to take care of your appetite so that you won’t gain weight.

Remember, that no matter what medications you are taking, you determine what and how much food you put into your mouth and how much exercise you get.

Do You Jiggle When You Walk?

Do you jiggle when you walk? How do you like it? If you don’t like it, there is something you can do about it. You can lose the weight. The question is whether you like overeating and jiggling more than you like a little restraint and being thinner. Life is full of choices. Good choices yield good results. Bad choices yield bad results. Jiggling is the results of bad choices. It is the results of choosing to overeat. It is the results of choosing not exercising. It is the result of choosing to eat higher calorie foods. It is about bad choices.

The good news is that at any time you can change those choices. You can choose to opt for getting firmer over jiggling. You can change those unhealthy habits into healthy ones. You can get thinner and firmer. The key is that you want it bad enough.

Therefore, let’s get the desire and let’s get rid of the jiggles.

Is Your Relationship Making You Fat?

It is common to gain weight after being in a relationship for a couple of years. This is because after a period of time, the need to impress the other person tends to disappear. The visits to the gym happen less often. Going out for meals happens more often. Sitting on the sofa, watching TV, and snacking become a habit.

What can you do? Get back the desire to impress your partner. Ask yourself, “Why am I eating?” Is it because I am bored? Is it a habit? Ask yourself why?

Move more and get your butt off the sofa, especially after dinner. Keep yourself occupied after dinner so you snack less.

Remember, relationships don’t make you fat, being content does.

What’s the Problem?

What’s the problem? What is keeping you from losing weight? What is keeping you from starting? Many times, people have reasons for not losing weight. What’s your reason? Now that you have stated your reason, ask yourself if it is a reason or an excuse? Many times I hear reasons, but they are only excuses. Let me just say that there are few good reasons not to lose weight and that your reason is mostly likely an excuse dressed as a reason so that you can feel good about your decision not to do anything. That is why soul searching is an important part of the weight loss process. It will clarify why you want to lose weight, help you get rid of the excuses, and help you attain your weight goal.

Identify what the problem is, and let’s move forward.

Is Stress Adding to Your Weight?

When stressed, levels of the hormone cortisol increase and cause your body to store fat. This fat storage can be multiplied by eating high-calorie foods. This is why it is very important to avoid using food as a stress reliever.

What can you do? First, identify what is causing you stress. Secondly, figure out a different why to reduce it. I like to exercise to reduce the stresses in my life, rather than by eating.

If you can stay away from comfort foods when you are stressed, you may be able to continue to lose weight and keep it off.

Protein can lower cravings for sweet foods. That is why it is a good idea to eat high amounts of protein for breakfast (i.e. yogurt, cereals, and eggs). This will give you the energy you need to make it through the day.

Therefore, eat more protein to find it easier to avoid high calorie, sweet foods, and beverages.

Whole-grain cereals and fresh fruits are high in fiber and make great breakfast options. Food high in fiber helps a person feel full and lower the impulse to snack in between meals. Additionally, fiber reduces bloating, which can make your stomach look flatter.
