May 16th, 2012Along the weight loss journey, it is important to track your weight loss progress.
There are a couple of reasons why.
Here are a few things that you may want to track.
Weigh yourself daily. Do it the first thing in the morning and on an empty stomach. Track it on a calendar. Keep the calendar next to the scale.
Get measuring tape and start measuring. Measure your waist, arms, thighs, and chest. Do it first thing in the morning before you eat. Take measurements every other week.
You see yourself everyday, and therefore, it is hard to see your progress. This is something that I wish I had done when I was in the weight loss process. I wish I photographed my progress.
If you want to lose weight and keep it off, it may be a good idea to track your weight loss progress.

Which is the best one to do you may be asking? The answer is simple. Do the one that you enjoy doing the most. If you enjoy doing it, you will have a better chance of doing it for the long term. Therefore, I recommend that you do an exercise you enjoy, over one that burns more calories.
Remember, consistent exercise for the long terms wins every time.

May 14th, 2012The only way you’re going to be successful at losing weight is by burning more calories than you take in. In addition, you need to have patients with your weight loss.
Gaining weight doesn’t happen overnight. Therefore, you should not expect to lose weight overnight.
The following tips can help you shed the weight so that you can lose weight and keep it off:
If you want to lose weight and keep it off, don’t diet. Diets just don’t work. While some diets may initially help you shed the weight, the weight will probably return. I have even witnessed many people gaining more weight back than they lost.
If you want to lose weight you need to eat regularly and eat healthier. Give your body, the right foods and it will respond positively (more energy, weight loss, etc.). Give your body junk and it will respond in a way that you may not like (weight gain, lack of energy, etc.).
If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you will need to exercise. In addition, regular exercise has many benefits other than weight loss. There are many exercises that you can choose from, but you need to pick one that you enjoy, so that you will want to do it regularly.
If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you need to develop a weight-loss plan that includes the right foods in the right portions, and you need to exercise regularly.

May 10th, 2012To lose weight and keep it off, you need to learn how to control your portions. If portion control is a weight loss challenge for you, below are a few things that you can do to resolve this:
After you eat, it takes time to feel full. This is why eating fast is a bad idea. Therefore, eat slower. I try to set my fork down in-between bites. I also try to chew my food longer, to slow myself down.
Drink water before your meal and while you eat. This will not only help fill you. It will help you eat less.
If you always have to clean your plate, this weight loss tip is for you. A smaller plate holds less food. If you clean a smaller plate, you will naturally eat less food, as long as you don’t keep going up for more.
If you can follow these few weight loss ideas to control your portions, you can lose the weight you desire and keep it off.

What are calories? – Weight Loss Info
May 8th, 2012Your body needs a specific number of calories each day to keep your current weight. This is the number of calories your body needs to do everything like exercising, driving your car, brushing your teeth, along with all of your body functions like beating your heat, breathing, etc.
Calories are potential energy or potential fat. We get these calories, as you know, through the foods we eat. If we eat the exact number of calories, our body requires, our weight stays the same. If we eat more, we gain weight. If we eat less, we lose weight.
That’s it. At the end of the day your calories spent must be greater than your calories consumed to shed the pounds.

Have You Been Exercising and Gaining Weight Instead of Losing Weight?
May 7th, 2012If you’re following a strength-training program and your weight is going up, you may actually be gaining muscle rather than fat.
The fact that your weight goes up does not mean that you are not losing body fat. Muscle is more dense than fat. The same amount of muscle takes up less room than fat. Therefore, you should watch for signs, like how your clothes fit. If your weight is up, but you go down a pants size, you are probably right on track.
You can measure it. Measure your waist, hips, chest, arms, and thighs, every few weeks and log your advancement.
If you gain weight and your measurements have increased, then you need to look at the food you eat. Don’t think that you can eat more, just because you are exercising. This will cause you to gain weight because you are gaining both muscle and fat. If this is happening to you, it may be a good idea to keep a log of what and how much you are eating. It may also be a good idea to log your activity. This will allow you to see the calories in and out.
I took a different approach. I did light weight training and heavy cardio for four months and lost 50 pounds. This allowed me to lose the weight I wanted to lose and see results. I did lose some muscle. However, once I lost the weight I wanted to lose, I rebuilt myself with a more intense strength-training program.
No matter how you do it, the bottom line is getting results. Therefore, it is always important to do what is right for you.
It is also always important to consult your doctor before starting any weight loss or fitness program.

Make a Commitment To Lose Weight
May 3rd, 2012When I first decided to lose weight, I walked into the bathroom, looked at myself square in the eyes and said to myself, “I am going to lose weight.” Right then I made a commitment to lose weight. It wasn’t that I was going to try to lose weight, and if it didn’t work out, oh well. Right there and then I made a commitment to myself. A commitment I was going to keep. I didn’t make a commitment, for the moment. I didn’t make a commitment that I knew I would be unwilling to keep. It was intense, and I was determined to keep the promise that I made to myself.
That’s what it takes to lose weight. It takes total commitment. I did not partially commit. I totally committed. I wasn’t 50% committed. I was 100% committed. I wasn’t 90% committed. I was 100% committed to lose weight. Anything less is failure waiting to happen. Anything less than 100% will allow you to be tempted.
Therefore, if you want to lose weight and keep it off for a lifetime, be totally 100% committed to your weight-loss goal.
