Weight Loss: Make a Commitment to Lose Weight

If you are not committed to losing weight, you can be tempted. Write this down and think about this every time you are ready to give in to temptation.  Think about this every time you are at a party and everyone else is pigging out.  Think about this every time you are deciding whether to attack the snacks.   Ask yourself this question, am I really committed if I eat this?  If you come home tired on a workout day, and you start to think about skipping it, ask yourself again, am I really committed?  This is because if you are not committed you can be tempted.  A matter of fact, if you are not totally committed, then for all practical purposes, you are not committed at all, because once again, there will always be something that will tempt you. 

See, most people don’t quit losing weight, they just slowly move back into their old bad habits.  They start by eating more than they should or eat a lot of something they shouldn’t and don’t make up for it the next day.   So make sure you are committed and do all the right things, so that you don’t go in a direction you don’t want to be going.

What does being totally committed to weight loss mean?

  • It means not just talking about losing weight but backing it up with consistent action
  • It means making the right choices not just the easy ones
  • It means practicing delayed gratification so that you can get the results you want
  • It means not envying what other people are eating because they will soon be envying you for your results
  • It means you will need to focus on the commitment, and you will need to commit to being focused

 

What does being totally committed to weight loss NOT mean?

  • It does not mean that you will not make any mistakes.  Making mistakes is part of the process, as long as you learn from them.   I made many mistakes and so will you.
  • It does not mean that you won’t have obstacles, but it does mean that you will not quit.  It just means that you will need to find a way over, around or through the obstacles you encounter.

 

Finally, if you want to lose weight, you will need to commit totally to it, half a commitment just won’t work.
