Should I Eat Slowly to Lose Weight?

I grew up in a house with five kids. My mother made a limited amount of food and when it was gone, it was gone. I learned to eat really fast. Still today that habit has plagued myself and my siblings. However, to get and stay thin, I constantly have to remind myself to eat slower. Why is it a good idea to eat slower? The answer is simple. Your body takes 20 minutes to send the “full” signal to your brain. If you eat fast you will keep eating because your brain still thinks you are hungry. If you eat slower, your brain will acknowledge that you are full, before your overeat.

Therefore, the best way to lose weight is to eat slower; take breaks in-between each fork, so that you waste time until your brain catches up with your stomach.
