There is a tendency to get bored, after doing the same workout routine for a period of time. When this happens, it is possible that you will quit working out. The key is not to get bored with your workouts. The key is to change it up from time to time, to keep your mind fresh, and your body guessing. This is why it is always important to look for new ways to exercise. It is also important to keep it fresh. Keep it fun and keep doing it.

Make Time For Yourself

Life always seems to get in the way of making time for yourself. Your job, your business, your customers, your kids, your significant other, organizations you belong to, all want your time and are always pulling on you. Time for yourself does not seem to exist. This can be very stressful. However, there is an answer. Make appointments with yourself and keep those appointments. Saturday mornings are my time to go for long runs and I rarely let anything get in the way of it. However, just about every week one of my clients tries to schedule an appointment with me for Saturday morning. I let them know that on Saturday mornings I go for my long runs, and I would be happy to see them after I’m done. I have yet to have a client get mad about it. I do schedule other times for myself during the week, and if I am not firm about keeping the appointment to myself, something will get in the way.

The lesson is this, we are all busy, however we can make time for ourselves but we must be firm about not letting anyone force us to cancel the appointment we make with ourselves.

Therefore, make appointments with yourself and don’t cancel them.

Even the Elf on the Shelf likes to exercise
If we want to live a longer and healthier life we need to add exercise into our daily routine. Even Alfonso the Elf on the Shelf knows this. Two mornings in a row, we caught him exercising. Alfonso realizes that exercise=mobility. Alfonzo the Elf on the Shelf stays thin because he exercises and is very active.

Exercise and physical activity can keep your muscles strong, bones strong, keep you flexible, and keep you young.

The holiday season can be busy. However, that is no excuse to skip exercising. It is no excuse to skip something that will help you live longer and healthier. Remember, a healthy holiday is a happier holiday.

Take the lead from Alfonzo and let’s make sure we exercise over the holidays.

Take Your Parents for a Walk

Go for a Walk

When I was at an office the other day, the owner of the business told me that she would be back in an hour. She proceeded to tell me that she was going for her daily walk with her 14-year-old son. She told me that her son told her that she needed to lose some weight and said he would walk with her every day. She said, “How could I refuse an offer like that.” Wow! I was very impressed. Here it took a 14-year-old child to get this woman to exercise. It was the fact that her son wanted it for her and would spend quality time with her set the ball in motion for her doing something about her weight. So, for all you kids out there, no matter your age, take your parents for a walk. They want to spend quality time with you. Who knows, they may even lose weight, get fitter, and live longer.

Weight Loss Exercise

Weight loss is about taking in less calories than you burn. This means that you can either eat less or exercise more. If you are like I was you will need to do both if you want to lose weight.

I have found that exercise has many benefits:

  • It helps tone you up
  • Build’s strengths
  • Burns calories
  • Increases your metabolism
  • Gives you more energy
  • Exercise is a great way to give your weight loss a boost. The key is to find one that you like and keep doing it. Exercise is not just about short-term success. It is about long-term success, and to have long-term success at exercising you need to do it long term. How do you do it long term? Do an exercise that you enjoy, so that you want to do it regularly.

    The take off from this post is that if you want weight loss, exercise regularly with an exercise that you enjoy.

    Fitness Weight Loss

    One of the best ways to lose weight is to go for fitness weight loss.  What this means is to lose weight by getting fit.  This does not mean that we don’t have to be mindful of what we eat.  It does mean that we will get ourselves on a rigorous exercise program.  This will allow us to burn lots of calories and also increase our metabolism.  This is because having lean muscle mass burns calories just because it exists.  Therefore, having lean muscle mass promotes a higher metabolism which promotes weight loss.

    If you want to lose weight, start a rigorous exercise program.  As always, remember to
    consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.

    Exercises for Slimming Down

    Exercise is essential if you want to slim down and keep it off. It can help to burn calories and increase your metabolism. Below are a few great exercises to help you attain your weight loss goal. There are lots of activities that can give you exercise. The important thing is that you enjoy it so that you will do it long term.

    Below are a few exercises that I used for slimming down. I enjoy them and they burn lots of calories:

  • Running
  • Biking
  • Weight Training
  • Walking
  • Elliptical
  • Swimming
  • If none of these appeal to you, find one or two that do. Remember, like I said above, it is important that you enjoy the exercising experience.

    Additionally, you can tailor an exercise just for you. My wife, for example, reads a book while exercising on the elliptical machine. When using the elliptical, I like to watch TV. Both of us have an enjoyable experience while using the elliptical and therefore, continue to do it.

    Exercise + Enjoyment= Slimming Down

    Therefore, exercise, enjoy and do it long term.

    How to Eliminate Your Running Injuries

    I love to run. Running is a passion of mine. However, over the past year, I have been plagued with injuries on and off. What I learned was that I needed to change my technique. Running was not the problem, but how I ran was. My stride, how I landed, and the positioning of my upper body had to change. Once I changed them, all of my injuries went away and have not come back. A running buddy of mine turned me on to a video that changed everything. It is a technique called Efficient Running. You may want to check out the videos below by Jeff Grant. This technique really works.

    Weight Loss Action Required

    One of the keys to losing weight is positive action. The first positive action in the weight loss process is to start. This may sound simple but for many people, it is the hardest. However, it is required if we want to lose weight. It also means taking positive actions daily towards our weight loss goal. This is because negative actions, including inaction will result in negative results (weight gain or staying overweight).

    What does positive mean? Positive action can mean:

  • Exercising daily
  • Watching your portion sizes
  • Eating healthier snacks
  • Becoming more active
  • If we can take daily positive actions towards our weight loss goal, we will get positive weight loss results. If we take negative weight loss action, we will have negative weight loss results. It is a choice, and it is our choice. Make the wise choice. We can do it. Let’s get it done.
