Hate to Exercise, Think Again

Hate to Exercise

One of the changes that we need to make if we want to lose weight is that we are going to have to change our attitude towards exercise. It is my experience that some people just hate to exercise. It is that attitude that needs to change if they want to lose weight. Hate is an attitude. Hate is a mindset. It is that mindset that has to change if they want to lose weight.

If you are one of those people that hate to exercise; the key to changing that mind-set is to find an exercise that you enjoy. Exercise does not have to be painful. Exercise can be fun. You don’t have to sweat when exercising. It can be as simple or as easy as going for a walk. It can be as easy as taking the stairs instead of the elevator. It can be playing with your children or grandchildren. It can be going for a bike ride. Walk around the zoo. It can be doing some gardening. Work on a home repair project. My wife takes her Kindle, gets on the elliptical machine, works-out and reads a book for a half-hour a day.

Exercise can be fun if you make it that way. You will only make it that way if you truly want to. It is all up to you.

The Keys To Building Muscle

Building Muscle | Build Muscle

Do you weight train and weight train and see little or no results? That is what happened to me, until I understood the second piece of the puzzle. The second piece of the puzzle is amino acids. One of the ways the body uses amino acids is to build muscle. If you are not getting enough amino acids, your body will not build muscle. Therefore, it is essential that you intake an adequate amount of food that contains amino acids if you want to build muscle.

The best source of amino acids is lean protein. Lean protein is great if you want to build muscle. There are also protein supplements and amino acid supplements available if you feel that you need them. An important thing to remember is not to overdue it. Remember, too much of anything is not good.

Therefore, if you want to build muscle, eat lean protein.

Always consult with your doctor before starting any weight loss, fitness, or nutritional program.

Ways to Get Rid of Exercise Boredom

Friday, March 8th, 2013

Exercise Boredom | Fun Exercises

Getting bored with exercise can easily cause you to quit. Therefore, it is important to find ways to eliminate boredom with your exercise routine so that you will do it long term. Below are a few things you can consider.

1. Mix it up. When I was losing weight, I ran just about every day. I love to run. After years of running, I still enjoy it, however, I have added weight training to my routine. It breaks up the exercise boredom, especially in the winter. In the summer, I run outside. In the winter, I run on an indoor track. Indoor tracks can get boring. Therefore, I have substituted a couple of my running days with weight training to mix it up.

2. Look for fun exercises to do. If you are like most people, you will continue to do exercises that are fun, long term.

3. Play with the kids. They can help you burn a lot of calories.

4) Train for a charity walk or run. It is a great way to give back, burn lots of calories, and get in shape.

5) Get new exercises accessories. Using an exercise mat, exercise ball, or an exercise band can add a new dimension to your workout, making it fun.

If you want to get rid of exercise boredom, you may want to test out a few of the ideas above.

Have Backup Exercises to Get Fit and Stay Fit

Monday, February 25th, 2013

Get Fit | Stay Fit | Exercises

Exercising is important to me. Therefore, I always make the greatest attempt to do it. I can even say that I feel guilty if I have to miss a workout because of work or a family obligation. However, I have developed a few exercises that I can do as a substitute to my regular workout when necessary. I have substituted a 15-minute, exercise-band routine as an alternative to my normal workout. I work my band hard for 15 minutes, and it gives me a great and intense workout in a very short period of time. Sometimes substituting short bursts of intense exercising can serve well in dealing with a very busy schedule. It provides you with some exercise and helps to keep you on track. It also helps with your time constraints.

The result is this. If you want to lose weight, get fit and stay fit, you will need to make time for exercise. If you can’t exercise for a long period, then do it intensely for a shorter period. Like Nike says, “Just do it!”

How to Get a Flatter Stomach | Get a Flatter Belly

Get flatter belly | Flatter Stomach

Most people I talk to tell me that they want a flatter stomach. However, to get a flatter belly takes some effort. Below are a few things that you can do to help make it a reality.

Spend 15-20 minutes exercising your core (mid section) four-day week.

  • Eat fewer carbs
  • Eat more protein
  • Do a cardio workout a few days a week.
  • Do weight training a few days a week.
  • Reduce your sugar intake
  • Eat all natural for two of your three meals.
  • Skip seconds at mealtime.
  • If you can do these few simple things, you will be on your way to getting a flatter stomach. You just need to go for it. Remember consistency is a key.

Do You Hate to Exercise? | Drop Weight

    Monday, February 11th, 2013

Hate To Exercise? | Drop Weight

I often hear from women that they can’t drop weight because they don’t like to exercise. This is an excuse. That is because exercise comes in many flavors. You can have intense exercise. You can have moderate exercise. You can have light exercise, and you can stay active. Exercise does always have to include sweating. Going for a walk with a friend or your mp3 player is a good example. Doing house work or yard work is exercise. The object is to keep moving and stay active, especially after dinner. Don’t eat your biggest meal and then sit in front of the TV without doing something. Want to watch TV? Install a TV in the basement and place exercise equipment in front of it. You can watch your favorite shows while you exercise. I like to weight train or work out on my elliptical machine at 9:00pm while I watch my favorite shows.

My point is, if you are using exercise as an excuse not to drop weight, STOP. If you really give it some thought, I am sure that you can find an exercise that you can enjoy.

I want to leave you with a question. Would you rather exercise, feel better, and look better, or would you rather stay overweight and not be as healthy as you could, all because you don’t want to sweat?

Therefore, find activities that you enjoy doing and keep doing them. If you look hard enough you can find activities you enjoy and get some exercise as a side effect. Let’s get started.

    How to Handle Emotional Eating

    Friday, February 8th, 2013

Emotional Eating

One on the biggest obstacles that keep people from losing weight is emotional eating. An emotional event can cause even the most dedicated person to go off track. That is because eating when an emotional event happens is what people turn to. However, this habit like any other habit can be changed.

When an emotional event happens in my life, I now turn to exercise, instead of eating. When I get stressed out, I exercise hard. If you have not tried it, you don’t know what you are missing. After a great workout, I feel better, the stress is gone, and the emotion fades, making it easier to deal with the issue. I workout my frustrations, instead of eating and gaining weight. I am also doing something positive for myself, and not destructive. Therefore, if you want to drop pounds and keep it off for a lifetime, change your emotional habit from eating to exercise. You can do it.

Do You Want Firm Abs | Six-Pack Abs

    Monday, January 21st, 2013

    Firm Abs | Six-Pack Abs | 6-Pack Abs

There is a myth that many people believe. That myth is that you can sit-up and crunch your way to firm abs. This is not true, or at least partially true. If you want firm or 6-pack abs, it is important to have a low percentage of body fat. Exercise is a key to firm abs. However, if you have a layer of fat around your mid-section, all the crunches in the world may give you 6-pack abs, but they will be hidden under a layer of fat.

I mentioned above that firm abs require a low percentage of body fat. This can be accomplished through a combination of cardio and strength training exercises, along with changing the foods you eat. It can be accomplished by eating lean protein, fruits, and vegetables. Lowering your carbohydrates and sugar intake is also a plus in moving yourself towards attaining firm abs (or six-pack abs).

At a certain point with your weight, five pounds of fat can be the difference between looking good and looking great.

Therefore, if want firm abs (or six-pack abs) remember the second half of the equation, your food intake.
