Reward Yourself While Losing Weight

Weight Loss Rewards

Losing weight is great in and of itself. However, have a plan to reward yourself when you reach specific milestones. For instance, buy yourself a new piece of clothing. Get a spa treatment. Go for a night out. There is only one rule. Don’t do anything that will cause you to gain any of the weight back. Rewarding yourself will add to your motivation. Rewarding yourself will make you feel good about what you are doing. Weight loss and fitness take work, therefore, reward yourself for hitting milestones and let’s get the rest of the weight off.

Move Forward to lose weight – Weight Loss Progress

During the weight loss process, we consistently need to move forward. This means monitoring our weight closely to make sure that we have consistent results. What we do when we are 200 pounds to lose weight is slightly different than what we do when we are at 175 pounds. We consistently need to make slight changes and move forward. If we are stuck at a weight, we may need to increase slightly the duration and intensity of our exercise. We may need to reduce slightly our food intake. We may need to replace a higher calorie snack with a lower one.

Reaching our weight-loss goals consistently requires that we do the things that will allow us to move forward. Let’s get started today.

The 4 Things I Did Wrong While Losing Weight

Friday, March 14th, 2014

Losing weight for me was trial and error. I would try something and if it worked I would keep doing it. If it didn’t work I would stop doing it. Additionally, if it worked but I did not enjoy it, I would stop doing it.

The key was to ask myself a couple of questions:

  • Is this working?
  • Can I do this long term?
  • These two questions were my guide during the weight loss process. However, I did make mistakes before developing these two questions.

    1) I starved myself.

When I started losing weight, I thought I could do it by starving myself. Although it worked for losing about five pounds, I found out that it did not work long-term, and it actually slowed my ability to lose weight.

    2) I ate healthy but non-enjoyable foods.

This also helped me lose weight. However, it made me miserable, and I knew I would not do it long term.

    3) I passed on eating my favorite foods.

This did nothing but drive me crazy. Like the saying goes, you always want what you know you can’t have. Eat your favorite foods just be mindful of your portion size.

    4) I did not strength train.

You want to lose fat, not muscle. Therefore, while losing weight do some strength training, so that you lose fat not muscle.

Although there are many more things that I did wrong while losing weight, I still managed to lose weight. You will make mistakes during the weight loss process. The question is whether you will keep going or quit.

    Create a Weight Loss Plan

    Weight Loss Plan

If we wanted to go on vacation, we would probably plan for it. We would plan for it. We would plan for what we are going to take. We would plan for where we are going to visit. We may even investigate places to go and eat.

If we want to lose weight, we also need to plan. We need to plan what we are going to eat for breakfast. We also need to plan for how we are going to handle lunch. We need to plan for eating healthier snacks. We need to think about portion sizes. We need to plan out our daily exercise.

We also need to adjust our plan as we see what works and what doesn’t.

Having a weight-loss plan is important if you want weight-loss success. It can be the difference maker.

Therefore, let’s create a weight-loss plan, and let’s get it done.

Weight Loss Happens After a Dream – Weight Loss Dream

    Monday, February 3rd, 2014

    Weight Loss Dream

If you want to lose weight, you need to first have a dream. Have a weight loss dream to become thinner. Have a weight loss dream of being healthier. Have a weight loss dream of better mobility. Have a weight loss dream of a healthier future. Weight loss starts with a dream. That dream can turn into your motivation. This motivation can drive you to weight-loss success.

Having a weight loss dream is great, and a must in order to lose weight and keep it off. However, it does take action. A weight loss dream followed by consistent action is the key. I had a large weight loss dream. I had a weight loss dream that motivated me to lose 50 pounds. A weight loss dream motivated me to keep the weight off for over seven years now. However, it took action on that dream to make it happen.

A dream without action will always only be a dream. A dream with action will be reality, and it will be a dream come true.

    Create a Weight-Loss Plan

    Weight-Loss Plan

Having a desire to lose weight is great. However, we need to develop the right motivation, and then we need to create a plan to make it happen. A weight-loss plan does not always have to be written down. However, you need to have a weight-loss plan that is carefully thought out and flexible. A flexible weight-loss plan, means it will change as you learn what works and what doesn’t. A carefully thought out weight-loss plan means that you understand what triggers make you eat, and you have thought about and know how you will deal with them. Having a weight-loss plan means monitoring your weight daily and making adjustments to your food consumption and exercising as you get the feedback of how the scale says you did. Having a plan means having a definite goal. Knowing how much weight you want to lose, when you want to lose it by, and what you are going to do to get there is powerful. Tracking your progress along the way is also a very important part of the weight loss process. What are you going to do to get started? Add it to your plan and let’s get moving.

5 Tips to Help You Stop Packing On the Pounds

    Monday, November 11th, 2013

    Stop Packing On the Pounds

Extreme weight gain does not happen over night. It usually is a process that slowly happens over years. Usually by the time we finally notice our weight gain, it’s too late.

Here are a couple of ways we can both stop the weight gain and reverse our weight:

  • Weigh ourselves daily. This will show the relationship of what, and how much we eat to our weight and will help us to become mindful of it.
  • Be mindful of all our daily choices. This can be both food choices and activity choices. Do we go for a walk after dinner or sit on the sofa?
  • Ask ourselves if what we are about to eat, worth it.
  • Become more active. The more active we become the more calories we burn.
  • Start switching to healthier snacks. If we start replacing some of our unhealthy snacks with healthier snacks, we may stop gaining weight and start losing it.
  • Let’s stop overeating to stop packing on the pounds. If we feel bloated after a meal, we ate too much.
  • If we want to stop packing on the pounds, let’s start acting like we do, and let’s get started.

Weight Loss Success is a Choice

    Wednesday, September 18th, 2013

No matter what we think, weight loss is a choice. If we want to lose weight, we must choose to do it. We must choose to become thinner. We must choose to become healthier. We must choose. Once we make that choice we must set a goal, and then start taking action. We must ask ourselves what steps we can take today to move us towards our goal. Then we need to come up with a plan to reach our goal and then take action on that plan.

Monitoring the results of our plan is important. Modifying our plan as we go is also important for staying on track. Making modifications along the way is part of the process. Learning what works and what doesn’t work is a key to losing weight. Learning what works and what doesn’t work will keep us thin once we get there.

Losing weight starts with admitting we have a weight problem, having a strong reason for losing it, making the choice to do it, and then making the right daily choices.

Weight Loss is a Give and Take

    Monday, August 5th, 2013

Many people I talk to think that weight loss is only about what you have to give up. What they need to think about is what they will get out of it. Weight loss is about give and take. Weight loss is also about trade offs. What do I mean when I say give and take? We sometimes have to pass on things. Sometimes we have to eat less of things than we would like. However, it is worth it. It is worth what we get out of losing weight.

We can get better mobility. We can lower our blood pressure. We can lower our insulin levels. We can feel better. We can look younger. We can look better. What we need to internalize is that weight loss is not about the things we can’t have, it is about the things we can have, once we lose the weight. It is about what we get not about what we give up. What we give during the weight loss process is not as important as what we get. That is quality of life. Every pound we lose adds a little better quality of life. Every 10% we lose adds time and quality to our lives. It’s our choice. Is that extra helping of dinner worth it? Is it worth being a couch potato, or would it be better getting a little exercise after dinner? One again it is our choice.

Therefore, let’s give a little, let’s make the right choice, and let’s get started.

Is losing weight a challenge for you? Could you use some encouragement and inspiration? Nibbles of Encouragement can help. It contains small bites of encouragement, inspiration, and reinforcement to help you lose weight. Weight Loss Action Required

    Friday, July 26th, 2013

One of the keys to losing weight is positive action. The first positive action in the weight loss process is to start. This may sound simple but for many people, it is the hardest. However, it is required if we want to lose weight. It also means taking positive actions daily towards our weight loss goal. This is because negative actions, including inaction will result in negative results (weight gain or staying overweight).

What does positive mean? Positive action can mean:

  • Exercising daily
  • Watching your portion sizes
  • Eating healthier snacks
  • Becoming more active
  • If we can take daily positive actions towards our weight loss goal, we will get positive weight loss results. If we take negative weight loss action, we will have negative weight loss results. It is a choice, and it is our choice. Make the wise choice. We can do it. Let’s get it done.

Is losing weight a challenge for you? Could you use some encouragement and inspiration? Nibbles of Encouragement can help. It contains small bites of encouragement, inspiration, and reinforcement to help you lose weight.
