Make a Commitment To Lose Weight

When I first decided to lose weight, I walked into the bathroom, looked at myself square in the eyes and said to myself, “I am going to lose weight.” Right then I made a commitment to lose weight. It wasn’t that I was going to try to lose weight, and if it didn’t work out, oh well. Right there and then I made a commitment to myself. A commitment I was going to keep. I didn’t make a commitment, for the moment. I didn’t make a commitment that I knew I would be unwilling to keep. It was intense, and I was determined to keep the promise that I made to myself.

That’s what it takes to lose weight. It takes total commitment. I did not partially commit. I totally committed. I wasn’t 50% committed. I was 100% committed. I wasn’t 90% committed. I was 100% committed to lose weight. Anything less is failure waiting to happen. Anything less than 100% will allow you to be tempted.

Therefore, if you want to lose weight and keep it off for a lifetime, be totally 100% committed to your weight-loss goal.

Have You been Exercising For Weeks With No Results?

If you have been exercising for weeks with no results don’t get discouraged, just do things differently. If your goal is to lose weight. Cut your portion sizes down. If your goal is to get toner. Increase the intensity of your workout. Whatever the goal, it is important to focus on your goal and not the weight-loss process. If you focus on the weight-loss process, you will fail.

Keep a positive attitude and keep finding new reasons to continue towards your goal. Don’t look for excuses not to. Keep your focus on the reason(s) you want to lose weight, and you will succeed.

Remember that it took years to get your body out of shape (if it was ever in shape), and so it will take time to whip it back into shape.
You can do it! Let’s get it done.

Intense Motivation to Lose Weight – Weight Loss Motivation

To lose weight and keep it off forever, you need to develop everlasting motivation. A woman told me that she wanted to lose weight for her daughter’s wedding. She did, and then gained the weight back with interest. Her motivation was short-term and not long term. Once the object of her motivation was over, she gained the weight back.

Therefore, to get and maintain your weight-loss goal for life, you must develop intense motivation. If you don’t, you will either not lose weight, or you will lose weight and then gain the weight back.

What is intense motivation? It is the fuel that fires your weight-loss passion. It is what will take you through the ups and downs of the weight-loss process. It is what will either cause you to succeed at losing weight or lead you to fail at losing weight.

Over the years thousands of diets have come and gone. Millions of people have gone on the latest fade diets and failed. Why is that? It is because diets just don’t work. Here are a few myths about diets you should be aware of. At the end of this post, I will tell you the only way that you can succeed at losing weight forever.

Myths about diets:

  • There is a magical diet out there to lose weight.
  • There is a magical pill that will allow you to lose weight
  • without doing anything.

  • You can get six-pack abs from a bottle.
  • You can get slimmer thighs by using cream.
  • After doing a fade diet you will be able to change all your bad eating habits and stay thin.
  • Above are a few of many myths out there about diets. However, there is only one way to lose weight and keep it off forever. You need to change your thinking. Losing weight is about getting your head in the right place to do the things that you need to do to lose weight. It is about developing a strong motivation to lose weight. It is about learning why you eat the way you do. It is about your overcoming weight loss obstacles. It is about getting rid of the excuses that are keeping you from starting the weight-loss process.

    Therefore, if you want to lose weight, change your thinking so that your weight–loss results will change, and so will your life.

    Don’t Avoid Temptations to Lose Weight

    When it comes to the foods you love, the old saying, “out of sight, out of mind” will do nothing but torture you. The key here is to have the tempting foods around you and learn how to eat them in moderation. Abstinence with the foods you love will just drive you crazy. Have it in your pantry along with healthy snacks. Remind yourself of your weight loss goal by posting them on the door of your snack cabinet. Start by swapping your favorite snacks with healthy ones every other day. The day you can eat your favorite snack, make the decision to eat a smaller portion of it.

    The point is this. If your goal is to lose weight and keep it off, then you need to be happy with the choices you make daily. If you aren’t happy with the choices, you are doomed to fail.

    Therefore, the idea is to have a mix of healthier snack, along with your favorite snacks (in smaller portions) so that at the end of the day you are happy with the choices you made that day. That will result in long-term weight-loss success.

    Exercise and Weight Loss

    Exercise affects weight loss on a few levels. The first is obvious. It helps you burn calories. Since weight loss is based on calories in and calories burned, the more you exercise, the better chance you have of losing weight.

    If you weight train, you can burn a few extra calories. This is because muscle needs more calories to maintain itself.

    There is another effect. That is the psychological effect. When you exercise you become mindful of what you eat and how much you eat. At first, at least for me, I thought I could lose weight by continuing my bad eating habits as long as I exercised. That was not the case. I then realized that the exercising I was doing was not accomplishing anything. I also realized that I needed to change what I ate and how much I ate. TA-DA! I started to lose weight. As I started to lose weight, I exercised more, became more mindful of food and eating and more weight came off. These were the unknown consequences of exercise. Now, I look at food and say to myself. “Do I really want to have to work this off if I eat it? Mindfulness is a wonderful thing.

    Stay In the Game to Lose Weight

    Most people quit losing weight just before they are ready to win at weight loss. Stay in the weight-loss game to lose weight.

    If what you are doing is not working, change it. If what you are doing is working, keep doing it. Be persistent, be consistent, and be determined to see your weight-loss endeavor to success.

    If you are persistent, consistent, and determined you will stay in the game. If you stay in the game, you can’t help but lose the weight you desire. You can’t help but eat healthier. You can’t help but exercise more. You can’t help but reduce your portion sizes.

    How do you stay in the game? You need to have a strong motivation to force you to stay in the game and to make the changes to your life that need to be made. Motivation to lose weight is developed from within. Your motivation to lose weight is the result of searching your soul for the most emotional “Reason Why” you want to lose weight.

    Once you identify your “Reason Why” you will be able to see the weight-loss game to victory.

    Ups and Downs of the Weight Loss Process

    The weight loss process is full of ups and downs. One day your weight is up. The next day your weight is down. You hit a plateau. You start to lose your weight loss motivation. What you need to realize is that it is all part of the process. If it was simple, everyone would be thin. The key is what you are going to do when you have a day that you are emotionally down and discouraged. Are you going to quit or are you going to fight? Are you going to push through it or give up? How you react to the emotional downs of losing weight will determine your weight loss success. The important thing is that you never quit. You also need to say to yourself that it is part of the process. You need to say to yourself that you must be heading in the right direction because there is resistance to you losing weight.

    Remember, if you made a mistake learn from it, and move forward. Do something different and watch the weight come off.
