A matter of fact it is just the opposite.  It is about eating regularly.  If you starve yourself, your metabolism slows down and your body goes into a fat saving mode.  This is counter productive if you want to lose weight.  </p>
<p>The idea is to eat.  Eat healthier low-calorie food so that your body does not feel it has to store fat, yet you lose weight.  During the weight loss process, I never starved myself.  I ate lighter meals. However, I never starved myself.  It worked. I lost 50 pounds.  </p>
<p>When I was a kid, my mom did not want us to snack before dinner.  She thought that it would spoil our dinner.  As an adult, I want to eat a healthy little snack before dinner.  I want to spoil my dinner so that I don’t overeat. Spoil your dinner to stop you from going up for seconds and thirds.   I don’t want to be so hungry at dinner that I overdue it.  </p>
<p>Take my advice, eat regularly and spoil your dinner to lose weight.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='wp_fbr_top'></div><div class='wb_fb_top'><div style="float:right;"></div></div><p>Obesity is a big issue for a lot of people these days. Statistics show that 30% of kids between the ages of 10 and 17 are obese.  It also shows that 60% of all adults are either overweight or obese. </p>
<p>Here are a few reasons why I think the problem exists.</p>
<p>Life has changed.  People don’t walk as much as they used to.  People sit at their desk in front of the computer all day.  When they get home, they sit in front of the TV for hours watching 1 of 300 channels, they have available.  What I find funny is that everyone I talk to tell me they don’t watch TV, yet when you go into their home you see TVs in every room and a large 60+ inch TV in their living room, strange for someone that doesn’t watch TV (lol).</p>
<p>Life seems more convenient with fast-food restaurants on just about every corner.  People have forgotten how to cook.  Everything is jumbo-sized, super-sized, mega-sized. All you can eat places are full at dinner time.  As a result statistics show that people have just about doubled their food intake. </p>
<p>Foods are loaded with high trans fat and sugar.  It is no wonder why there isn’t a shortage of overweight or obese people.</p>
<p>Children are starting to see weight issues at younger ages as Wii, Xbox, DS, Gameboy and computer games have replaced playing outside after school.</p>
<p>Work is more stressful, adults are too busy or too tired to exercise and as a result, people are burning fewer calories than they take in.</p>
<p>What can be done to solve this complicated issue?  There needs to be a big push in awareness so that people want to eat healthier, increase physical activity, and improving nutrition.  This would be a great start.  </p>

<p>Weight loss is the lowering of your body weight. This is what the scale reads. The difference is this.  When talking about weight loss the loss can come from fat, muscle, or water. </p>
<p>No matter what your goal is, it can only be attained by eating healthier and staying on a good exercise routine.  Don’t ever give up.  You can do it.</p>

<p>WELLNESS COOKING should be just that, “cooking to be well”, but so many times when we see “wellness recipes’ we’re reminded of some diet we had to be on to loose weight in the past.   Wellness cooking doesn’t have be about preparing boring foods that we know are good for us but just don’t taste that great.  The following recipe is a Wellness Cooking Recipe that provides both great taste and balance between carbohydrates, protein, and fat, plus VERY low calories!   You could even prepare this dish with GLUTEN-FREE bread. </p>
<p>As a classic Italian cook, I believe in the philosophy of reducing a recipe to the lease number of fresh ingredients. For this reason, one of my favorite dishes to prepare is BREAD SOUP. The recipe that follows is called PAPPA ALA POMADORO. In this case the word PAPPA has nothing to do with His Holiness the Pope, or your grand dad. Instead it has it’s origin in the word PAP, which means baby food. </p>
<p> Another reason why I love doing this dish is, people can watch you create it in just a couple of minutes………I finish it off by anointing each serving with a special high grade olive oil and a dusting of parmesan cheese.  Then I sit back and watch their expressions.  They oooooh and aaaaah and just can’t believe something this luscious can be so simple and fast   So, now you can do the same with your friends and family, and spread the word about the simplicity of authentic Italian cusine……..true WELLNESS food.</p>
<p><strong> Zuppa di pane   (pappa ala pomadoro)</strong><br />
Classic Tuscan Bread, tomato/basil soup</p>
<blockquote><p>1 ½ cup red onion (chopped)<br />
1  large can crushed tomatoes (2 lbs fresh finely chopped)<br />
1 1/2 handfulls of stale Italian bread (about 2 cups)<br />
2 cups water<br />
1  cup torn fresh basil leaves<br />
6  Tbs good extra virgin olive oil (divided)<br />
¼  cup grated quality parmesan cheese<br />
1 large toe garlic (thinly sliced)<br />
Sea salt &#038; freshly ground pepper</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>1.     In large sauté pan heat 3 tbs oil, cook garlic for 1/2 minute (do not brown)<br />
2.     Add onions and sauté for 3  minutes<br />
3.     Add tomatoes, cook for 5 minutes until they start to break down<br />
4.     Tear bread into chunks and add to liquids<br />
5.     Add water, cook mixture until it bread breaks down…<br />
     6.  When soup is the right consistency, add salt, pepper,<br />
     7. Tear up basil leaves and mix into soup.  Transfer to bowls, anoint each with olive oil and parmesan cheese.</p></blockquote>

I am going to take the opposite approach today and talk about how to get fat fast.  Why am I doing this you may be asking?  If you want to lose weight, yet you continue to do the things below either knowingly or unknowingly, it is probably the reasons for your results. </p>
<p>First, remember that the idea, here is to increase your calorie intake while at the same time lowering your physical activity.  This will help to optimize your weight gain.  </p>
<p>A great idea for this is to sit on a sofa watch as much TV while you constantly eat snacks and junk food.  Pizza, burger, fries, and fried foods are the best for increasing your weight.</p>
<p>Make sure you also eat three large meals a day with dessert.  Don’t forget to go up for seconds, thirds, and fourths.</p>
<p>Remember to make sure you always super size everything.</p>
<p>Do these things and you will get fat fast. However, if you want to lose weight fast, avoid doing all the above.</p>

Years ago I was one of those people.  Every meal I would stuff myself like a pig.  What I did not realize was that when I stuffed myself as much as I did, I was actually hurting my body.  What I did not realize was that my body had to process all that food and do something with it.   It turned some into energy, dumped some out, and turned the rest to fat.  It became a problem and promoted my unhealthy weight gain.  Also, most of the  fat went to my abdominal area.</p>
<p>How do you stop your over-eating problem?  Here are a few things that helped me.</p>
<li>Eat a healthy snack about a half-hour before dinner.  This will curb your hunger and help you to eat less.</li>
<li>Eat slowly at dinner.  This will help you to feel fuller without eating a lot of food.</li>
<li>	Stop when you just start to feel full.  Once are stuffed, it is too late.</li>
<li>Exercise more.  This will remind you that you need to work off what you put in.  It will help you to pay more attention to what and how much you eat.</li>
<p>If you can do these few things, you can stop overeating  and lose the weight you desire.</p>

<p>Your friends can help determine your weight.  What do I mean by that?  Quite simply, if your friends are health-minded, you will probably become health minded.  If they aren’t, it will be easy for you not to be.  </p>
<p>Let’s face it, your friends help pick your activities.  They will help select where you eat when you go out.  They will order healthy food making it awkward for you to order something unhealthy.  They will pick many activities that require physical activity.</p>
<p>If you hang around overweight people, the food will tend to be unhealthy and the activities will be less physical, probably causing you to gain weight.  </p>
<p>Now, I am not telling you to dump all your overweight friends.  What I am saying is that you may want to add a few health-minded friends to your list.  </p>
<p>I also wanted to make you aware that most people don’t realize how their friends influence their habits and behaviors. The more you can be around people who care about their health and fitness, the more likely you are to have it be a priority in your own life.</p>
