6. Control Your Surroundings to Control Your Weight
Another way to cut calories is to control your surroundings. This means:

  • Keeping away from all-you-can-eat restaurants.
  • Controlling what foods you have in your kitchen.
  • This means keeping healthier foods in the house to pick from.
  • This means picking the right restaurants to eat at.
  • Not eating too much junk food at parties
  • If you can control your surroundings, you can control your weight.

    The Truth About Weight Loss

    Many people think weight loss is about starving yourself. They are wrong. When we starve ourselves, our bodies try to store more calories the next time we eat in excess of what our body needs. So, even though we are dramatically reducing our food intake most of the time, we will not lose weight, if we get excess calories some of the time.

    A big rule of weight loss is this, you must consistently burn off more calories than you take in. It is also a rule that anything you do to accomplish this will work, as long as your calorie intake is consistently reduced, every day. A balanced set of eating habits that contain small quantities of vegetables, fruit, grains and lean meat or fish is the healthiest way to lose weight. Exercise will help, but you will also still have to cut calories. Remember that after you lose the weight, if you go back to eating more and exercising less, the weight will come back.

    Downsize Your Dinner Plates to Lose Weight

    Studies show that most people eat what is served to them. Therefore, the less that is served, the less people will eat. So, the answer is simple. Serve dinner on smaller plates, like salad plates. Serve drinks in smaller glasses instead of larger ones. If you can do this you will cut calories and lose weight.

    Limit Alcohol To Weekends To Cut Calories and Lose Weight

    Want to be thinner?
    Want to be trimmer?

    Alcoholic drinks contain a lot of empty calories.

    Just think:
    • A five-ounce glass of wine has 125 calories
    • A bottle of beer about 153 calories

    Consequently, because our bodies don’t burn those calories quickly, they usually get stored into fat. However, I am not saying don’t drink. What I am saying is that if you enjoy the occasional drink, consider a trade off. Enjoy your favorite alcoholic drink on weekends (1 or 2) and increase your activity so that your weight won’t pay the price.
