Getting Fat Just Occurs

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

If you were to look at the numbers, you would see that Americans’ average weight gain is at least a pound a year, starting in your mid 20’s. This means that by the time you are 60 you will have increased your weight by at least 35 pounds.

As you get older, your metabolism is also slower. This means that yours body burns fat less effectively. As people get older, they usually don’t exercise as much as they should, which results in the loss of muscle mass. Therefore, people are not only gaining weight. They are also becoming unhealthy, and they are losing muscle mass, which increases injuries.

Let’s talk about exercise a moment. Americans in general don’t exercise much. There are polls that show that one-fifth of Americans exercise for at least 20 minutes, three days a week or more. There are also polls that say that 40% of Americans get no exercise at all. This explains the obesity problem we currently have.

If people would just make a few minor changes in their lives, like eating just a little less, and exercising a little more, they would see results. Losing weight is not as hard as people want to believe it is. It is this belief that losing weight is hard that keeps people where they are at. I lost 50 pounds in four months and kept it off, by changing that limiting belief. I can help you do the same. Check out my book info below. It may be the best $10 you ever spent.

What Can Cause You to Gain Fat?

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

There are many factors that can cause fat gain. Below are a few to consider:

Your Metabolism

Metabolism is a process in the body that converts food into energy. When your metabolism is not operating properly, it can get in the way of your body burning calories as efficiently as it could. This can result in fat gain.

Stress

Stress is interesting. Stress can change your hormone levels and blood sugar levels. It is also a big cause of emotional eating. It can even slow down your metabolism. All of which can cause you to gain weight.

Food You Eat

Fast food is a good reason people gain weight.

The Way You Live

Being too busy to eat healthier and exercise. We take the car everywhere. We use the elevator. We sit all day behind the computer and our cell phones. No wonder people gain fat.

Low Muscle Mass

Most people don’t realize that muscle burns fat. Low muscle mass equals little fat loss.

If don’t want to gain fat, or you want to lose fat, be mindful of the above info.

Foods that Boost Your Metabolism

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Eating foods that boost your metabolism help you to attain and maintain your goal weight.

However, your metabolism also is affected by the size of your meals and the time you eat your meals.

Below are a few foods and ways that you can boost your metabolism naturally.

  • Eat more meals
  • Eat more and smaller meals, preferably 5 or 6, meals a day. This helps boost your metabolism every time you eat. Conversely, skipping meals causes your metabolism to slow down. In other words, graze all throughout the day.

  • Eat protein and fiber
  • Eat more high-fiber foods to help burn fat and give you more energy. Protein helps you build muscle and lose fat, so add protein at every meal.

  • Hot and spicy seasonings, like chilies, curry, and mustard has been shown to boost metabolism rates.

Drink More Water to Lose Weight – A Great Weight Loss Drink

    Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Water helps our bodies regulate temperature, eliminate toxic products, make you feel full and help carry nutrients and oxygen to our cells. Conversely, not to drink water is a common mistake people make when in the weight loss process. Water is necessary for the burning of calories. If you become dehydrated your metabolism does not function optimally, and that usually translates into slower weight loss. Research has shown that adults who drink 8 or more glasses of water per day burn more calories than those who drink less. Therefore, if you want to lose more weight, drink more water. If it is feasible, you should drink cold water at a temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit. This causes your body to work harder to heat up the water resulting in extra calories being burned and faster weight loss.

    How To Increase Your Metabolism

    Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

As an overweight society we are always looking for things that we can utilize to lose weight. There is nothing fun about being overweight and losing weight is not an easy task. It takes determination and patience. We need to learn how to eat less, exercise more. It is a fact that when you can raise your metabolism you have a greater chance of being able to lose weight because you will burn more calories.

How do you do that? Let’s explore the answer.

First of all, it is always important consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.

No doubt muscle burns calories. However, in order to get muscles that burn calories you have to get off the couch. Work with weights three times a week for 45 minutes. Adding muscle mass increases your metabolism when you are at rest. Think about that, you will continue to burn calories while you are resting afterwards.

Increase your activity between workouts. Add a 30-45 minute cardio work out a few times a week to your schedule.

Never skip a meal. You have to kick your metabolism into gear in the morning by eating breakfast, and you need to reduce the size of your meals. You need repeatedly to maintain a calorie deficit day, in order to lose weight.

I have mentioned before that it is a good idea to drink more water. It is a fact that water will raise your metabolism. The more water you drink the more calories you will burn. However, the impact from drinking water will be small. It is a good start and certainly a lot better than what you were doing before.

Sleep is also important in maintaining a higher metabolism. If you don’t get enough sleep, your metabolism could be affected.
If you want to raise your metabolism and lose more weight, start with the action list above.

    Lift Weight to Lose Weight

    Thursday, February 10th, 2011

A new study confirms that strength training is an important in shedding the body of extra weight.

No doubt, aerobic exercise burns calories. However, the body’s metabolism quickly returns to pre-exercise levels, within 30 minutes.

Resistance training, according to the researchers, leads to increased calorie burning for up to two hours after the workout is over.

There is a downside. Weight training usually results in a corresponding increase in weight due to increased muscle mass.  Therefore, there needs to be a balance between weight training and cardiovascular activities to get the best benefits.
