Is Fat Spot Reduction Possible? – Can You Lose Fat in a Specific Spot

Spot reduction is the idea that you can reduce fat in a specific area by working it. For example, you can do crunches and lose stomach fat, or work your legs and burn thigh fat, etc.…

You cannot force your body to lose fat from a specific area. It can only be lost from the body as a whole. You can do crunches all day. However, if the muscles are covered by fat, they will stay covered, until you lose the fat. It will not do anything to the fat covering that muscle.

When you start losing weight, the fat will start to come off. You will lose fat in whatever way your body is genetically predisposed to losing fat.

Spot reduction is generally impossible. You can lose it in that area by losing weight, cardio training, and weight training. However, the fat will come off in the order your body wants, not you want.
