  • We are making the decision to reduce our portion sizes.
  • We are making the decision to eat healthier.
  • We are making the decision to exercise regularly.
  • We are making the decision to become more active.

    Things to Know Before You can Shed Weight

    Losing weight is an education. It is a learning experience. One of the things that we need to learn is what we should eat and what quantities, we should eat them in. There are a few other things that we need to know if we want to shed weight and keep it off.

  • We must know why we want to shed weight. This important because this is our motivation that will keep us going through the ups and downs of the weight loss process.
  • We must know what makes us eat. Do we eat when we are stressed? Do we eat when we are bored? Learning and knowing why we eat can help us overcome the temptation. It allows us to find other outlets besides eating.
  • We must know what weight we want to be at and when we want to get to that weight. This will keep us on track and keep us focused.
  • If we know why we eat, why we want to shed weight, and know where we want to go. It is just a matter of starting. Let’s start and let’s get it done.

    Weight Loss Tips – Useful Tips to Shed Weight

    When I was in the weight-loss process, I had to learn how to make things easier on myself. I had to learn how to cut calories painlessly. I had to learn how not to eat all the time. Here are a few of the many things that I learned.

    I Make My Own Salad Dressing
    One of the things I do is make my own salad dressing. This allows me to spice it up and still keep the calories down.

    Brush My Teeth
    I find that the times I bushed my teeth early, I snack less. This is because I don’t want to have to brush again before I go to bed.

    Switch My Seat
    Sit in a different spot at dinner. Sit in a spot that you are not staring at the food. This can help you resist the temptation of going up for seconds.

    Call a Friend
    When you are in an emotional state, call a friend. It can take your mind off of eating.

    Weigh Myself Daily
    I always weigh myself daily. It is a good way to help you stay mindful of your daily choices and portions.

    Exercise During TV Time
    I don’t go for a snack during commercials. I do some sit ups, pushups, or dips. I also use an exercise band. The object is to do something other than eat.

    Take a More Steps Daily
    After dinner I make it a point to spend more time going up and down the stairs. It can really burn the calories.

    Weight loss is an education. Therefore, learn and shed weight.

    Dream to Shed Weight

    Shed Weight

    Before we can lose weight, we must get motivated to do it. Motivation usually starts with a dream. It can be a dream of feeling better. It can be a dream of looking better. It can be a dream of being healthier. It can be a dream of living longer. It starts with a dream. If we can dare to dream of our weight loss possibilities, we can shed weight.

    A dream is a great place to start. However, we need to follow it up with positive action. We also need to get the courage up to start the process. A dream without starting is just a dream. A dream with positive action is a dream come true. We also need to set a goal. A goal will help keep you on track for attaining your weight-loss dream. Therefore, set many weight-loss goals. Set short term weight-loss goals and long-term weight-loss goals. Remember that the attaining of incremental short-term goals will allow you to reach your long-term goal.

    However, it all starts with a weight loss dream. Dream a dream of a thinner you, and let’s get started.

    Resist the Ads and Shed Weight

    Shed Weight


    As Americans we are constantly bombarded with ads. We are bombarded by fast food ads, junk food ads, sugary food ads, and fatty food ads. Everywhere we turn they are there. The ads attack our kids, trying to get them to develop bad eating habits at a young age. If you don’t believe me just watch the commercials on Saturday mornings.

    However, you can resist them. You have the power within you. If that doesn’t work, find a hobby to do during the commercials. Find an exercise to do during commercials. Play on your tablet or phone. Find something to occupy your mind.

    As far as your kids go, you control what you buy and what they eat. You can also set the example for them as they look to you as their role model. Make sure what they are learning is good.

    Remember, resistance is not futile. If you can resist them you can shed weight.

    Your Opportunity To Shed Weight

    Have to Loss Weight | Get to Shed Weight

    I always hear people tell me, “I have to lose weight.” I like to tell them, “No, you get to lose weight.” There’s a difference.

    “Have to” lose weight has a negative tone. It implies you don’t want to shed weight. It also implies you are doing it kicking and screaming. You won’t have long-term success at losing weight if you “have to” lose it.

    When you “Get to” lose weight you’re implying that you’re looking forward to it. If you want weight-loss success you need to look forward to losing weight. You should look forward to looking and feeling better. You should look forward to better mobility. You should look forward to a healthier future. Therefore, look at shedding weight as an opportunity not a chore, and you will lose the weight you desire and keep it off of the long term.

    Weight Loss is About Trade Offs

    A decision to shed weight is not a decision unless there are trade offs.

    Losing weight is about trade offs. It is about trading some of the high-calorie foods you eat with lower calorie healthy foods. It is about trading exercise for your sofa. It is about trading some TV time for activity time. It is about trading eating seconds for having better mobility. It is about trading triple sizing at fast-food restaurants for lowering your blood pressure. It is about trading big bowls of ice cream to avoid diabetes. It is about trading smaller portions for smaller pants. It is about trading large bags of chips to lower your risk of a heart attack. It is about trading fatty foods for feeling better and having more energy. Weight loss is about trade offs. What you are ultimately trading for is a longer and healthier life.

    Make the right decision and make the trade offs.

    Mix It Up To Shed Weight

    Over six years ago, when I was in the process of losing 50 pounds, I found that periodically my body would adjust in a different way than I would have thought. If I did the same exercise routine for weeks, my body would adjust and would get used to the new normal, and the results would come slower. If I ate about the same amount of calories for weeks at a time, the results would slow down after a while.

    Therefore, I realized that I had to mix it up. I had to switch cardio with strength training. I had to increase my cardio, duration and intensity.

    Also, I had to increase my calorie intake occasionally, for a day, to keep my body from adjusting to the new norm. In other words, I had to mix it up.

    Therefore, if you want to shed weight, mix it up and take the weight off.

    What I did to Shed Weight and How I Did It

    People always ask me how I lost 50 pounds in four months and have kept it off for over six years. I tell them that, “You must first get your head in the game before you can lose the weight you desire, and keep it off.”

    What does this mean?

  • It means that you have to be mentally ready to lose the weight.
  • It means that you must be ready to acknowledge that you have a weight problem.
  • It means that you have to have strong motivation to get the weight off.
  • It means that you have to get rid of all your weight-loss excuses.
  • It means that you have to be ready to change some of the things you are doing.
  • It means that you must think positively towards the weight-loss process.
  • If you can do these things and others, you can lose the weight you desire.

    If you can’t, you will remain where you are.

    Don’t Give Up Your Favorite Foods and Still Lose Weight

    One of the biggest reasons people fail at losing weight is because they feel that they have to give up all their favorite foods. People tend to want what they can’t have. Therefore, they drive themselves crazy. Then they go off of their diet, binge, and gain the weight all back sometimes with interest. This also keeps many people from even starting the weight-loss process.

    The key to weight loss is not ever to feel deprived. The key is to feel good about what you are doing so that you are willing to do it long term. The key is to learn how to eat your favorite foods, while adding lower calorie healthy foods, so that you can shed weight and keep the weight off for a lifetime.

    It is all about balance and it is all about portions. Have ice cream, but only one scoop. Have those chips but only a pinch and not on the same day that you have the ice cream. Eat what you want, eat it slower, and eat less of it.
    If you’re sitting there saying to yourself that you can’t do this, then you won’t, and you won’t lose weight.

    It is not a matter of can’t but a matter of won’t. You can do it. I did. I love food, and I was able to do it. You can too. You just have to be willing to start.
    I remember that when I was overweight, I ate a bowl of ice cream every night, and followed up by eating two types of chips.

    Today I may have one scoop of ice cream, a pinch of chips, a handful of peanuts, or fruit as a snack. However, I don’t eat all of them in the same evening.
    How much you eat is a choice, your choice. If you want to become thinner, you need to make the right choices, and learn to be happy with those choices. You can do it!
