What Are Calories? – Weight Loss Information

A calorie is a unit of energy represented in food. Your body burns the calories in food and converts it into energy that your body uses throughout the day. The calories in the body that is not used is stored as fat. If you want to lose weight you must burn more calories than you consume. It is said that one pound of body weight is 3,500 calories. If you want to lose a pound a week, you must burn 500 more calories daily than you take in.

8. Get in Step To Get Your Weight Down
A good idea may be to get a pedometer. The next step is to use it. A good strategy is to add more steps slowly until you hit 8,000-12,000 steps a day. If you want to lose weight you need to become more active throughout the day. Do things like:

  • Pace around while you talk on the phone.
  • Take your dog out for an extra walk
  • Walk in place watching TV.
  • Walk up and down the stairs as much as possible.
  • Wearing a pedometer helps keep your weight loss goal alive.

    Therefore, get in step to get your weight down.

    A good idea is to substitute whole grains with refined grains like white bread, cakes, cookies, and pretzels. This will give you much needed fiber and will fill you up so you are more likely to eat a smaller portion. Therefore, if you want to lose weight, start eating whole-wheat breads and pastas, brown rice, bran flakes, popcorn, and whole-rye crackers.

    There is a huge difference between “wanting to” and “having to.” The difference is this. Wanting to, means long term weight loss success. Having to, means long term weight loss failure. Wanting to, means you are cool with it. Wanting to, means it is a positive thing in for your life. Positive things you will want to do long term and therefore, will have success. Having to, means you really don’t want to do it. It is a negative thing in your life and therefore, you will eventually stop doing it, and you will fail. The only difference between failure and success in losing weight is how you frame it. Losing weight can be a positive event resulting in success, or a negative event resulting in failure. That comes out to almost 90,000 calories a year. This translates to about 25 pounds. Therefore, if you want to lose weight, make water your new drink of choice. Furthermore, low or no calorie flavored water will also do the trick.

    Start Reading Food Labels To Lose Weight

    I am not a calorie counter, but I do pay attention to food labels. I guess I would say that I am calorie aware. I do read labels to see if what I am about to put into my mouth is 100 calories or 1000 calories, but I don’t keep track of them. I just try to make sure that don’t eat a week worth of calories in one meal. Although, most of the time before I read the label I can pretty much guess if what I am thinking about eating has too many calories. This takes a small effort on your part, but it should be done if you want to lose weight.
