Develop New Healthy Habits to Shed the Weight – Part 2

As I mentioned yesterday, to lose weight and keep it off, you need to get rid of and replace your unhealthy habits.

Below are a few healthy habits you may want to consider developing:

  • Eat three meals a day. Eat a lighter and healthier breakfast. Eat a lighter and healthier lunch. Plan for two light healthy snacks a day (weight loss does not have to mean starvation).
  • Learn to eat slower
  • Serve your dinner on individual plates not family style on the table.
  • Serve yourself on a smaller plate.
  • Learn to leave food on your plate.
  • Exercise daily
  • Stay active after dinner
  • When you are tempted to snack, try an activity like:

  • Walking
  • Take a bath
  • Talk to a friend
  • Read a book
  • Knit or Cross-stitch
  • Paint
  • Ceramics
  • Wood working
  • Gardening
  • House cleaning
  • Sports
  • Surf the Web
  • Read your email
  • Play with the kids
  • Play with the family pet
  • Facebook
  • Tweet
  • Watch Youtube videos
  • All the above are weight loss ideas can help you to develop healthier habits so that you can live longer and healthier lives.

    Burn More Calories and Lose Weight

    Check out some weight loss ideas to help you burn more calories:

  • Jump rope
  • Jump or skipping rope for 15 minutes can burn 100 calories.

  • Climb the stairs

  • Climb the stairs instead of taking the elevator, and you’ll burn some calories in the process.

  • Go For a walk
  • Walk when you can. Not only will you burn more calories. You will save money on gas.

  • Drink water
  • Try to drink a minimum of eight glasses of cold ice water a day. It can help you burn those few extra calories.

  • Eat breakfast
  • Breakfast is an important meal of the day. Don’t skip it.

  • Eat Slow
  • Eat slowly and make it point to enjoy your food. It is said that it takes 20 minutes for your brain to process that fact that you have eaten. Eat slower and you will eat less.

  • TVcize
  • Add exercising to your TV routine. Instead of sitting on the sofa and eating junk food, why not exercise. You can do sit-ups and pushups. You can exercise with an exercise band. You can get an exercise ball and work your abs. If you are really motivated, you can put a treadmill, exercise bike or elliptical machine in front of the TV and exercise while you watch your favorite shows.

  • Swap it
  • Swap a light or low-fat option of dressings and sauces whenever possible. Swap diet soda for regular and you can save over 100 calories per soda.

  • Weight train
  • Lifting weights can help you burn more calories. It will even help you burn calories when you are doing nothing. The more muscle you have, the more calories your burn.

  • Snack right
  • Instead of eating those chips, opt for nuts, fruits and vegetables. These will fill you up and help you hit your weight-loss goals.

    Everyone would like to lose weight, but most people don’t know the best way to lose weight. To start seeing improvement, you have to start making some small changes in your life.

    First, I would like to give you a few overweight stats:

  • 64 percent of people in the US are overweight or obese.
  • Obesity is the cause of 325,000 deaths a year.
  • As I have said in other posts, there are no magic pills when it comes to losing weight.

    However, there are things that you can do that will have an impact on losing weight.

  • Lower Your Junk Food Consumption
  • You will not be able to lose weight unless you are willing to lower your consumption of junk food.

  • Drink Lots of Water
  • Drinking water promotes weight loss. If you are dehydrated your body will not function at its optimal level.

  • Reduce You Portion Sizes
  • You should eat smaller portions at each meal if you want to lose weight.

  • Eat Less Calories Without Depriving Yourself
  • Cut the amount of calories that you eat by a small quantity each day. This will add up fast and won’t be a shock to you physically and mentally.

  • Exercising Regularly
  • This doesn’t need to be anything too intensive. However, the more, and harder you exercise, the better your weight loss results will be.

    Additionally, exercise is a good way to increase your metabolism.

  • Get A Good Night Sleep
  • Sleeping is an easy weight loss tip. There is nothing to it. Research has shown that lack of sleep increases hunger. However, having at least eight hours of sleep helps with weight loss.

    Therefore, if you want to lose weight you may want to try these weight loss ideas.

  • Use a snow shovel instead of a snow blower (make sure you don’t have heart issues)
  • Drink lots of cold water
  • Eat sweet foods in smaller amounts
  • Eat Salads instead of fries
  • Don’t go up for seconds
  • Carry groceries instead of using a cart
  • Make Saturdays an exercise day
  • Always have a gardening or home repair project to work on
  • Snack on nuts, fruits and vegetables
  • Eat more fruit and less cake
  • It is always the little things that can have the biggest impact on your weight loss.
