Shortcuts to Losing Weight

Most people are willing to spend some time and money for a shortcut to lose weight. This is because in other areas of their lives, shortcuts pay off, and it reinforces their belief that there just might be an easier way. What I have found is that those who spend too much energy chasing shortcuts are often disappointed and usually fail.

There are no shortcuts to losing weight. That does not mean that you have to hate it. I realize I become stress free and relaxed after a good workout, and really enjoy exercising for how I feel afterwards. I realized that eating lighter and healthier gives me more energy in the afternoon.

Losing weight and getting fit does not have to be painful. If you concentrate on the benefits, you may actually enjoy the process. That’s why I lost 50 lbs in four months and have kept it off over eight years now.

Shortcuts are not the answer. The key is to dig deep inside you and find a way to enjoy the journey.

Most people try to take the fast track to losing weight. They are always looking for the shortcut to losing weight. What they don’t realize is that there are no shortcuts to losing the weight. What they also don’t realize is that if they do actually shed the pounds using shortcuts, the weight won’t stay off. See, what people don’t understand is that the weight loss journey (weight loss process) is as important as the weight loss destination (the weight loss results).

Why is that you may be asking? Well, though the process of losing weight:

• You learn how your body works
• You grow your ability to say, “No thanks, I’ll pass this time.”
• You develop a lifestyle of balance
• You experiment with different foods and exercises
• You see what works for you and what doesn’t
• You gain insight into why you eat
• You gain the knowledge to overcome your weight loss obstacles
• You gain understanding of what you should eat to lose weight and how much you should eat to lose weight
• This is where you learn how to overcome your weight loss weaknesses

The easy weight loss, the fast track to losing weight just won’t do that for you. You won’t get that with weight loss shortcuts or even the newest diet of the week.

Fast tracks to losing weight and diets will change your bad habits for the short term, but after it is over, you will return to the same old comfortable bad habits. The weight then usually returns, sometimes with a vengeance. This happens because nothing was learned, in the process. Once again, weight loss is all about the weight loss journey not the destination. So, let’s enjoy the weight loss journey, let’s learn from it, and let’s get it done.
