Weight Loss Tips for the Holidays

They say that many people gain 10 pounds over the holidays. How can you continue to lose weight or at a minimum not gain any weight over the holidays?

Whether you are in the weight-loss process or want to maintain your weight, the holidays can bring challenges. Why wouldn’t it? There are lots of tempting and fattening foods all over the place, and the challenge is to maintain a balance in your eating. The tips below can help you to continue with your weight-loss goals.

  • Eat slowly

Eating slowly will allow you to stop when you are satisfied not when you are full or ready to explode.

  • Focus on having a lot of conversations and not eating the food.

Holiday parties are social and are meant to be spent in conversations. It is not meant to be an eat-a-thon.

  • Eat the good food you want to eat.

Just pay attention to the portion sizes you eat.

  • Throw the Party

I have found that it is very hard to eat when you are the one throwing the party.

  • Eat a Healthy light snack before going to the party

Eat a light, healthy snack before going to the party. This will help you to reframe from eating a lot at the party.

  • Watch Your Drinking.

Liquor has a lot of calories. Don’t over do it.

  • Stay active or the holidays

Remember to exercise and stay active over the holidays. The more active you are the more calories you burn. The less active you are the more weight you will gain.

Weight Loss Tips You Can Live With : Take Small Steps to a Shed the Weight

There is a song that goes, “Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking down the street.” In other words, start by taking small steps. This is great advice for losing weight.

Snacks

Find healthy snacks that you enjoy. Fat fee yogurt makes a great snack. Want more flavor? Add fresh berries.

Exercise

There are times that you just don’t feel like exercising. My advice to you is, do it anyway. Once you get started, you will be happy you did.

Weight-Loss Goals

Write down your weight-loss goals so you know when you have succeeded.

Out for Dinner

Have a few items that you order when you go out for dinner. This will allow you to enjoy a meal out while still maintaining your weight-loss endeavor.

Start out small

Don’t try to do everything at once. Don’t try to exercise too hard the first week or two. Start out small and work up to it.

Enjoy Your Workout

Finding an exercise routine that you enjoy is critical to losing weight.

Experiment

Experimenting with different foods can be fun when you are in the weight loss process.

Smaller Plates

Eat on small plates. It makes it look like you have more food. It also allows you to clean your plate without feeling guilty.

Losing weight is about taking many small steps. If you can do a few of the things above, you will be on your way a thinner future.

I have assembled a few useful weight loss tips that can help you lose weight and keep it off.

Portion Control Your Snacks

When snaking, take a napkin, leave it folded, and put enough to fill 75% of your napkin. This will allow you to enjoy a snack and not destroy your weight loss endeavor.

Keep Your Weight-Loss Goals in Front of you

Write your weight-loss goals on the bathroom mirror with a dry eraser marker. Post your weight-loss goals on the refrigerator and snack cabinet. Keep them in front of you all day.

Keep Healthy Snacks in the Car

Keep single portion, healthy snacks in the car. This will keep you from the fast-food restaurants.

Use Lots of Spices

There are many spices out there that can add great taste to foods without the calories. Weight-loss food does not have to be bland.

Buy New Clothes

Weight loss can be fun. As you shed the weight, go out and buy new clothes. It will add to your motivation as you start to see yourself looking good in those new clothes.

Forgive Yourself

Everyone makes mistakes. When I was in the weight-loss process, I had days that I blew it. I beat myself up for a few minutes and then found the lesson in that mistake so that I did not do it again.

Quick Tips To Shed the Weight – Weight Loss Tips

  • Don’t go up for seconds if you want to become thinner.
  • Replace regular chewing gum with sugar-free chewing gum.
  • Snack on a papaya
  • Replace cream cheese as a spread with nonfat apple-cinnamon yogurt.
  • Eat frozen grapes instead of an ice cream.
  • Replace strawberry milkshakes with smoothies made of low-fat milk, strawberries and a banana.
  • Replace brownies with fig bars.
  • Drink more ice water and add a lemon slice or mint.
  • Replace a large flour tortilla with a six-inch one.
  • Replace packed in oil with tuna packed in water.

    How To Not Gain Weight Over The Holidays – Weight Loss Tips

    Stuffed Is Not Just For the Birds
    Most of us look forward to Thanksgiving. It is time off work. It is time to relax, and it is time to jam as much food as we can onto our plates and into our mouth. Afterward, we inevitably we feel guilty while we console ourselves with another piece of pie and talk about how we will lose it after the first of the year, yeah right!
    If you don’t want to gain weight over the holidays then it may be a good idea to remember these easy tips for enjoying holiday meals without getting carried away.

    Now, I am not going to tell you that this is the time to be a health fanatic and eat only vegetables. However, I am not going to tell you to eat your weight in turkey either. There is a balance. Here are some tips.

    Eat a Light Breakfast but Don’t Skip Breakfast
    It’s tempting to starve yourself all day so that you can pig out, but don’t. Your body will be in a better position to process those extra calories if your metabolism is already buring calories.

    Serve Yourself
    When you serve yourself, you can control your portions better.

    Know Your Vice
    Know what food will get you to overdo it and make a conscious effort to keep it to a reasonable portion for your weight-loss goal.

    Eat Salad
    Fill up half of your plate with salad. This can help you from eating too much of the really fattening things. I am not saying to skip those fattening things. What I am saying is to watch your portions.

    Eat Slower
    The faster you eat, the more likely you are to overstuff yourself. Therefore, it is a good idea to eat slowly.

    Watch Your Alcohol Consumption
    Alcohol contains a lot of extra unneeded calories that can be used to enjoy your holiday dinner.

    Exercise
    I have made it a tradition to go to the gym the morning of a holiday meal and the morning after. This allows me to keep my head in the weight loss game, prepare for a bigger than a normal meal, and work off that bigger than a normal meal.

    Watch Those Leftovers
    Be careful of eating leftovers for breakfast and lunch. They can destroy your weight loss goals if you are not careful.

    Do not say “I will eat what I want and how much I want now and lose weight after the first of the year.” It rarely happens. Why gain more weight that you have to get off later? Losing weight over the holidays is difficult but not impossible. However, if you just take a few steps to maintain your current weight through the holidays, you will have less weight to shed later. If you can’t lose weight over the holidays just make an effort not to gain any.

    Easy Weight Loss Tips

  • Eat on nonfat plain yogurt instead of ice cream.
  • Replace fried-chicken with roasted drumsticks.
  • Instead of eating four cookies, eat Two.
  • Replace half-and-half in your coffee with evaporated nonfat milk instead.
  • Replace a regular cola with diet cola.
  • Use regular sour cream with fat-free sour cream.
  • Reduce the size of your steak.
  • Make a grill cheese sandwich with nonstick cooking spray instead of using margarine.
  • Snack on oven-baked potato chips instead of regular potato chips to be slim down.
  • Replace croutons with chopped celery on top of your salad.
  • If you can replace certain foods with lower calorie foods, you can lose weight keep it off.

    Doing a few small things can help you to lose weight and keep it off.

  • Only eat half of your dessert.
  • Whenever possible, walk instead of drive
  • Go for a family walk after dinner.
  • Avoid food portions bigger than your fist.
  • Replace sugary soda with diet soda.
  • Replace your Sunday drive with a Sunday walk.
  • Eat with smaller plates.
  • Do more work around the house.
  • Use a salad plate at a buffets
  • Remember that small changes can give you large results.

    Lose Weight Without Being on the Diet of the Week

    The best diet is no diet at all. It is a new way of life that gives you balance in your life that you can live with from this point forward.
    If you want to lose weight, you should first talk with your doctor about identifying your optimum weight. Futhermore, ask your doctor the number of dalily calories you should intake so that you can lose weight. This is because losing weight requires that you eat fewer calories than you burn.

    Below are some tips that can help:
    • Eat a well balanced variety of foods like lean protein; whole grains, fruits, and vegetables;
    • Watch your portion sizes. If you must have seconds make it vegtables.
    • Exercise at least 20-60 minutes daily.
    • Reduce your junk food intake.
    • Eat smaller meals more frequently. Five to six meals per day may work the best. It is just hard to maintain the schedule.
    • If you like to eat a lot make it mainly salad and a super serving of green beans, broccoli, cabbage, kale, or other low calorie vegetable.
    • Make your snack berries, grapes, nuts.
    • Stay away from “empty calories” like sugarysodas and fruit drinks

    If you can adhere to the few weight loss tips above, you will lose weight and keep it off.

    Eat Less and Eat Smarter – Weight Loss Tips

    Eat fewer calories than you burn, and you will lose weight. This is not rocket science. A good place to start is to eat a little less at every meal.

    It doesn’t mean you can’t eat and still lose weight. You just need to be smarter about what and how much you eat.

    Eating less is will work. However, eating smarter works better. Eating to lose weight is important, so choose lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, and nuts so that you will lose the weight you desire.

    Eating Tips For You – Weight Loss Tips

    The timing of your meals can be important:

  • Don’t eat before a workout
  • Don’t eat before bed
  • Wait an hour after a workout before you eat. This will help you get the most fat burning benefits.
  • Eat most of your carbohydrates before 3pm.
  • Never starve yourself
  • Starvation leads to hunger and hunger leads to unhealthy snacks.
  • If you can follow a few timing rules it can make a difference with your weight loss results.
